Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide all animals a loving, forever home. We work with owners and pets alike to make the world a better place for both. We are working hard to establish a veterinary fund to provide every animal with essential vet care including spay/neuter to lower the unwanted pet population.
Who We Are
We are a small incorporated in the state of SD, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pets. We tend to specialize in dogs, but occasionally help with cats and other animals if we have volunteers and fosters willing to help. We are all volunteers and foster homes -- we have no paid staff. We do not have a physical shelter building. Our foster families provide valuable insight into each pets' personality, temperament, and unique features which allows us to place each pet into the best home possible.
How did we start?
In 2009, our founder - Sarah Wess - went to a shelter where several dogs were scheduled to be euthanized -- she took three home with her. These three dogs, Boog, Bubba, and Texas were the start of Sarah's Treasures Rescue. All three of these dogs have been happily placed with their new families and Sarah felt the need to continue to help a couple dogs at a time. She was eventually joined by several volunteers who helped with her efforts. Sarah is still a very active volunteer with the rescue, but the rescue is operated by the board of directors, and all decisions are made by the board of directors.
