About Us
Founded in 2009, we are a foster-based dog rescue located in the Watertown, South Dakota area. We do not operate out of a traditional shelter building. Instead, all of our dogs live in loving foster homes, where they receive individualized care and attention while they wait for their forever families.
This approach allows us to truly get to know each dog and set them up for success in their future home.
Where Are the Dogs?
Our dogs are not housed in a public facility.
Every dog in our program is placed in a foster home, living in a real household environment.
Because of this:

We do not have a location you can visit

Dogs cannot be viewed without an approved application

All meetings are scheduled in advance
This keeps our dogs, fosters, and adopters safe and ensures thoughtful matches.
Our Adoption Process
We strive to keep our adoption process simple, efficient, and fair for everyone.

Submit an Adoption Application
This is required before meeting any dogs. -
Application Review & Conversation
Once received, we contact references and reach out to talk with you about:-
Your lifestyle

The dog(s) you’re interested in

Any questions you may have

Home Visit Photos
You’ll provide photos of your home to help us ensure a safe and appropriate environment. -
Meet & Greet
If everything aligns, a meet and greet is scheduled with the dog. -
Trial Period
If the meet and greet goes well, your trial period begins.
Matching the Right Dog
Every dog is treated as an individual, and every application is processed the same way.
If the dog you are interested in is not the best fit, we will gladly work with you to suggest another dog who may be a better match.
Our goal is always the same:
the best outcome for both you and your new best friend.

Because we are a 100% foster-based rescue:

You can donate directly to the rescue account by calling Westside Animal Clinic (605-878-7297) or Glacial Lakes Veterinary Clinic (605-753-0876) and donate direct on the Sarah's Treasures account at either clinic.
Donation Drop Off:
Donations may be dropped off at Tractor Supply Company in Watertown, SD located on East Highway 212 during business hours. Simply tell an employee it is for Sarah’s Treasures Rescue, and they will set it aside for our volunteers to pick up!
