Nigel

Nigel is approximately 2-1/2 years old and believed to be a Shepherd/Lab type of mixture. He arrived from a Texas high kill shelter on July 11th. He was extremely scared, shy, and stressed out upon first arriving and was afraid to be touched/handled so he took a bit of time to come out of his shell.

Nigel has blossomed in his foster home, although he is still cautious at times. He is happy to see his foster parents when they arrive home and is handing out tail wags and adjusting to living with a family. He absolutely adores being outside and we believe he may have been a mostly outdoor dog previously, but he’s enjoying the comforts of a house dog now. Nigel is cautious when meeting new people – he warms up with patience and time. He would do best with kids who understand his nervous/skittish nature and can be calm and less loud around him.

 

Nigel has done great with every dog he has met – both large and small. He has been learning how to play with others and needs a doggy friend in his forever home to help him learn the ropes and keep his confidence boosted. Nigel does prefer playing with dogs slightly smaller than him versus the larger ones. Nigel has not seen cats but has been around rabbits and he is interested in them and likes to watch them – because it’s unknown how he would do, we do recommend caution with cats.

 

Nigel has been learning how to play with toys – he does love water and enjoys playing in the little pool in his yard. He has been showing interest in playing fetch with ropes and squeaky toys as well. Nigel loves having a fenced in yard and it is preferred his forever home have a fenced in yard. Nigel has been working on his basic manners and commands – he will need continued training on the basics, but he does like to please and catches on quick. Nigel is kennel trained and believed to be house trained – he does occasionally have an accident but in general understands the concept and does well with a schedule.

 

Nigel is vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested negative a current on his flea/tick/heartworm/deworming protocols. He will be neutered prior to going to his forever home, but is currently scheduled for August 27th. Nigel’s adoption donation fee is $250.00
